From Startup to Now: The Journey Is The Goal

On August 11, we completed 12 years in the business and stepped into our 13th year. As I look back on the utterly amazing journey, one thing I do know is that we have been doing something absolutely right.

Like any other start-up, we struggled during the initial years, but we persevered and prevailed. I knew when I started out, that things will not be easy, but that I was here for the long run. I learned that things come together when you have planned for it, have the patience to wait, and the discipline to stick to the plan. Also, that balance is the key.

Lessons Learned

If I have anything to share with the struggling new companies, it is that business begins and ends with expertise. Make sure you have a team that is high on expertise and innovation. Make sure your financial calculations are spread over the years, are whetted by experts and there is a solid contingency plan in place. I have survived major market crashes and economic meltdowns because my planning included worst-case scenarios. I was committed to making it work, I was here not just to survive, but to thrive and grow to the next level. I believe in the – crawl, walk and run – model and right now, we are ready for the next phase of development.

Industry Insights

Technology is volatile, disruptive, and a fascinating force. I have worked through projects where technology changed from what it was at the beginning of the project to when we were closing the project. Our teams had to stay on top of the ever-changing pace of technology, adapt, evolve and learn. And, I consider that my strength. I make sure that my teams upgrade constantly and are always learning. Website design and development at one time was just a part of the brand checklist, but today it is the digital front door to the brand. Website is where all transactions begin and brands now give serious thought to how they want it to work.

The Future

We live in a wonderful time on the brink of amazing things. From AI being incorporated in all parts of life to human-centric designs to free-thinking and the startup boom where people everywhere are trying to do what they truly love. When it comes to website design and development, I believe AI will soon be part of all websites, and – intelligence – both human and artificial will work together to bring about cutting-edge discoveries.

People want to learn something new, want to be entertained, want to see what is completely relevant and what piques their interest.
